A family company based in London with an association to fine teas going back almost a century and to one of the most exquisite gardens ever conceived, the magnificent Aili Huayuan 'Garden of a couple in love' in Shanghai designed by the famous monk Huang Zongyang of the Qing dynasty (1644-1911).
A living, breathing mark of the enduring love of two people, a love that transcended culture and religion, Aili Huayuan covering almost 25 acres, displayed a collection of some of the most exquisite flowers, flowing streams, babbling brooks, soothing waterfalls and magnificent balconies and pavilions famous for inspiring quiet meditation, contemplation and sutra reading and the many magical occasions of sharing, savouring and celebrating the very finest teas that money could buy.
Though destroyed by fire in the late 1930's Connoisseur Teas endeavours to recapture the captivating romance, splendour, glamour and spirit of Aili and a 'golden age' of tea.
